People report seeing healthy and good looking game animals so far this season. This is due, in part, to the exceptionally wet summer season.
An important notice is for hunters wanting to hunt in the West Fork of the San Juan area. As most of you know the area had a major forest fire earlier this year. It is technically open according to the U.S. Forest Service, but they are not recommending hunters enter the area. This image below shows the affected lands.

Venturing into this area, and specifically off trail, will be dangerous this season. There are still trees falling at random times and there may be underground burned-out spots where one can get in over their, literally. Be warned that a greater area burned just over the divide and down the east side.
