Sixth Annual Juried Exhibition: A Regional Competition on Display
A large crowd enjoyed the opening of PSAC’s 6th Annual Juried Exhibition Thursday evening, June 25, at Town Park Gallery. PSAC Board President, Linda Echterhoff announced the following winners: 1st Place ($700), Linda Bennett’s fabric art “Loyalty,” 2nd Place ($450), Sandy Applegate’s watercolor “Coop 5 Terre” and 3rd Place ($250), Jeanine Malaney’s watercolor “Spirit Ascending.” To view a slide show of the artwork please visit our website: www.pagosa-arts.com/events.html. The Ruby M. Sisson Memorial Library and the Pagosa Springs Arts Council are pleased to jointly present Salon Supplémentaire in parallel with the Arts Council’s 6th Annual Juried Exhibition. PSAC invites you to come and explore the diverse work in these shows both of which will run from June 25 to July 21.
10th PSAC Home and Garden Tour
The 2009 Home and Garden Tour sponsored by Pagosa Springs Arts Council will take place Sunday, July 12 from Noon to 4:00 p.m. The four homes on the tour are exquisite, artistically unique and coordinated with nature in totally individual styles. Featured at the homes will be miniature artwork, dish gardens and hanging floral baskets that will be for sale with proceeds going to PSAC. Hors d’ouevres will be provided at one of the homes and desserts at another. Tickets are available at the Chamber, Higher Grounds and Town Park Gallery. Directions will be included with each ticket. Gallery Hours
The PSAC Gallery in Town Park is now on summer hours. We are open Tuesday through Sunday 12:00 Noon to 4:00 p.m. You may also visit our website at www.pagosa-arts.com for additional information.
Photography Club
The Photography Club is currently off for the summer and will begin meeting again the second Wednesday of September. For more information, contact Club vice president Barbara Conkey at blconkey@rockymtncable.com or 970-731-6877.
2009 Calendars for Sale
The 2009 Pagosa Country Calendars have been marked down and are now for sale at half price in the Town Park Gallery. The calendars normally sell for $8.95 plus tax for non-members and $7.95 plus tax for PSAC members. Call 264-5020 to place your order.
Plein Air Painters
Plein Air Painters meet at 10:00 a.m. on the third Thursday of the month at a predetermined location. On July 16 we will meet at the Piedra River picnic area. Drive north on Piedra Road until the road crosses the river (approx 25 minutes from Hwy 160). There is a picnic area with tables and restrooms on the right side of the road.
Painters who work in any media are welcome. It’s a wonderful opportunity to share tips, ideas and resources. If the weather is nice, we paint outdoors. If the weather is bad we will paint in the Community Center Arts and Crafts Room. Please keep in mind that turpentine based painting materials can not be used in the Community Center. PSAC 2009 Workshop Calendar
The Pagosa Springs Arts Council sponsors and manages workshops in the Arts and Crafts Room at the Community Center. From the outset, the Arts Council has been a partner and supporter of the Community Center. All of the workshop classes are held in the Arts & Crafts Room of the Community Center. Please call PSAC at 264-5020 to register for any of the classes and pre-registration is required.

Pagosa Springs Arts Council Welcomes New Members and Volunteers
Started in 1988 the Pagosa Springs Arts Council, a non-profit organization, was conceived and developed to, in part, promote the awareness of the vast array of local artistic talent, provide educational and cultural activities in the community, sponsor exhibits and workshops by local and regional artists and encourage and support continued appreciation and preservation of the aesthetic beauty of Pagosa Springs. If you would like to join the Arts Council please send your name, address, phone number and email address to P.O. Box 533, Pagosa Springs, CO 81147. You will also need to enclose a check payable to PSAC for the membership rate of your choice.
Membership rates are: Youth - $10; Individual Senior - $20; Individual Regular - $25; Family Senior - $25; Family Regular - $35; Business - $75; Patron - $250; Benefactor - $500, Director - $1,000 and Guarantor - $2,500 and up.
