WILDLIFE COMMISSIONER TO MEET PUBLIC IN CAHONE
DURANGO, Colo. -- A member of the Colorado Wildlife Commission will hold a public meeting at the Cahone Community Hall, 6:30-8:30 p.m., June 29. Cahone is located in southwest Colorado between Dove Creek and Cortez. Mark Smith was recently appointed to the wildlife commission. He is a ranch manager in the San Luis Valley and has been active in wildlife issues in Colorado for many years. At the meeting Smith will discuss local and state wildlife issues. The public is invited to talk about any and all issues concerning wildlife, hunting and fishing at this meeting. The Colorado Wildlife Commission is a volunteer board that sets regulations and policies for the DOW. There are nine wildlife commissioners who represent five different districts in Colorado. They are appointed from each of the following groups: livestock producers; agricultural or produce growers; sportsmen or outfitters; wildlife organizations; and boards of county commissioners. The remaining three commissioners are appointed from the public at large. The Cahone Community Hall is located at 14018 Colorado Highway 491. The hall is on the east side of the highway.
