Pagosans Enjoy An Evening of Music with Larry Porter
On Saturday, March 15, concert pianist Lawrence Porter entertained friends of PSAC on the Steinway grand in David and Linda Strathdee’s home. Over 50 people attended the performance which gave Pagosans a rare opportunity for fine classical music, food and socializing. This concert was a fund-raiser for PSAC. Mr. Porter’s virtuosity was demonstrated by selections, ranging from Bach to Gershwin, many with improvisations by Porter himself, creating exciting renditions of familiar pieces. Larry Porter is a concert and jazz pianist who has performed across the country and as the entertaining pianist on cruise ships. He won his first competition in 1970 in the Arkansas State Music Teachers Competition followed by performances in competitions in Texas, Colorado, Paris, France and at the Van Cliburn International Amateur Competition.
We would also like to express our appreciation to the Strathdees for the use of their home, Katy Deshler for the piano and PSAC board members for supplying the food.
