Wolf Creek Named Favorite Rocky Mountain Resort by OntheSnow.com Visitors
Visitors to OnTheSnow.com have chosen Wolf Creek in the San Juan Mountains of Southwestern Colorado as their “Favorite Overall Resort” in the Rocky Mountains. The data period for voting was January 2010 when a Nielsen audit showed 2.3 million unique browsers logged in to the world’s most visited Web portal. OnTheSnow.com is published by Mountain News Corp.
The ski resort with the top average score (on a scale of 1 to 5) in each category, and a minimum number of entries, receives the award. Visitors then ranked them in five categories: Overall Favorite, Best Nightlife, Most Family-Friendly, Best Downhill Terrain and Best Terrain Park.
“User-generated content is a very powerful and effective way Web visitors have to communicate with each other,” said Mountain News Corp. President and Publisher Rob Brown. “Skiers and snowboarders are relying on the word of their peers when they make resort choices.”
Here are just a few samples of what OTS visitors wrote about Wolf Creek: “We thought Wolf Creek was fantastic, and we can’t wait to go back. My kids are addicted now to skiing, and we have memories that will last a lifetime. I don’t know how it could have been better…” “This place has it all from the best tree skiing to radically steep slopes in the Waterfall area. It doesn’t matter if you fall anyway, you will generally be falling into feather-like powder a couple feet deep. You can ski till your legs are rubber…”
Wolf Creek is a high alpine ski resort, 10,300 feet at the base and 11,900 feet at the summit. Its versatile terrain includes 1,600 acres along a high alpine ridge serviced by two triples, two doubles, one quad chairlift, and one magic carpet. Average snowfall is 465 inches.
