Chromo
Just north of the Colorado-New Mexico border, about twenty miles from Pagosa, is Chromo, Colorado. It is a business/post office with distant housing development on both sides of the road. To the far right are Elephant Head and Navajo Peaks. The red bluffs to the left are the last of the mesas common to New Mexico, the area south of this photo.

Echo Canyon View
About five miles south of Pagosa Springs is Echo Lake seen as the light blue strip to the left in this photo. The mountains north of Pagosa come into view at this point. There are neighborhoods seen to the right and others hidden in the trees around the lake.

View from Echo Lake
Echo Lake is a beautiful spot for picnics and parties. Shown is one of many fishermen who use Echo Lake. Powered boats are allowed on the lake and the state record Big Mouth Catfish was caught here.

Valley View Ranch View
At about two and a half miles south, just past the ridge seen in Echo Canyon View photo is Valley View Ranch, one of the most photographed and painted scenes in the area. Take a good look, rumor is that this will become a golf course soon.

East Pagosa
Looking west into Pagosa Springs from the eastside of town. The giant spruce trees throughout town were brought to Pagosa and planted by workmen installing Wolf Creek Pass a century ago.

Downtown Pagosa Springs
The scenery just gets better downtown Pagosa Springs. The beautiful river front just across from the historic main street is a beehive of activity both on and around the river. The Springs Hot Spring Resort is to the right and The Chamber of Commerce is to the left. The hill in the background has a hiking trail system and great views of the surrounding mountains.
